I know, I know... another website, who needs it? Well, I do! After all this is a very special website: it is about me! Okay, okay so maybe this will not get as many hits as the average porn site out there but hey, those of you who love bridge (and/or love me!) might enjoy looking at my photos or reading my bios and might even learn one thing or two from the many articles and the other learning material contained here.
First let me introduce myself to those of you who may not know me: I am Migry Zur Campanile, a full time bridge player/ teacher and I am the editor of the Israeli Bridge Magazine, a glossy 48 pages monthly, with an English section but mostly in Hebrew, covering not just the Israeli bridge scene but also many international events.
My main activity and the one that I enjoy the most is teaching bridge: from small groups of four-five pupils to courses and lectures targeting large audiences of 80-100 people.
I find teaching an immensely fulfilling job since it enables me to share my vision of how I believe the game should be played. My objective is to get my pupils to fully master the basics of play of the hand and defense rather than parrot their way through a myriad of bewildering and mostly redundant conventions. Bridge needs to be fun and not a stressful and frustrating way to spend one’s time: learning to think and to make a correct plan as declarer or as defender allows us to feel a true sense of achievement when we solve difficult hands and will ultimately make us understand and evaluate the usefulness of those conventions we feel we cannot do without.
